One year on, still no justice for priest’s death
MANILA, Sept. 6, 2010—It has been a year since the brutal murder of Father Cecilio Lucero, a staunch human rights defender in the Diocese of Catarman.
And for his fellow priests, still no justice.
Lucero was killed in an ambush by some 30 unidentified armed men while he was on his way to Catarman from his parish in Catubig in Northern Samar September 6, 2009.

Church to hold Ramadan outreach program

Basic needs such as toiletries, soap and medicines will be given to around 200 inmates in both the Marawi City and Provincial jails on September 7, the eve of the feast of the Virgin Mary.

CBCP renews appeal for Pakistan flood victims
MANILA, Sept.2, 2010—The Catholic Bishops’ of the Philippines humanitarian arm is seeking urgent assistance for flood-stricken Pakistan.
In a statement, Caritas Filipinas made a public appeal for solidarity and assistance for around 20 million people affected by flooding.
The flooding that began in late July has claimed an estimated 2,000 lives and about 2 million people homeless.
