The Knights of Columbus Fraternal Association of the Philippines, Inc. (KCFAPI) will hold a weeklong celebration to mark its 58th founding anniversary from September 8 to 14, 2016. Various activities are expected to fill the week at the KCFAPI’s main office. A Eucharistic celebration will be offered on the feast of the Nativity of Our Lady on September 8 where a Marian Exhibit will likewise be showcased.

Other activities lined up for the week are as follows: Expect to have some fun games on September 9 to celebrate the BC Holders’ Day, followed by an outreach program to be held on September 10 in Molave Youth Home, a special detention center. The annual bloodletting program is scheduled on September 12, while the much awaited Fraternal Benefits Day is on September 13.

To culminate the weeklong celebration, a TV Mass will be held at the San Agustin Church to commemorate the 39th death anniversary of the Knights of Columbus local founder, Fr. George J. Willmann, SJ and to celebrate the 58th Founding Anniversary of the KCFAPI. A wreath laying ceremony will follow at the statue of Fr. Willmann in front of the KCFAPI building and an Appreciation Night to honour the former and incumbent board members who are octogenarians. This will be held at the Pacific Ballroom, Hotel H2O on September 14, 2016. All these activities are intended to celebrate KCFAPI’s humble beginnings.

It was in 1958 when Fr. Willmann, who is sensitive to the needs and restricted resources of the economically underprivileged members of KC-Philippines, moved to implement the Order's mutual benefit objectives by spearheading the organization of a local KC insurance system. The Knights of Columbus Supreme Council approved the establishment of Philippine Fraternal Insurance through the then Territorial Deputy Rev. Fr. George J. Willmann, SJ and granted permission to use the name "Knights of Columbus".

On August 1, 1958, the Knights of Columbus Fraternal Association of the Philippines, Inc. was incorporated and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Then, on September 9, 1958, KCFAPI was duly licensed by the Insurance Commission to operate as an insurance system for the exclusive protection of the members of the Knights of Columbus and their immediate family members. Its initial capital of P32,000.00 represented the total contributions of sixty-four Filipino Knights and Councils who donated P500.00 each. Fifty eight (58) years later, it is now a Php 5.0 billion financial institution.

Below is the Schedule of Activities to celebrate the 58th Anniversary of the Knights of Columbus Fraternal Association of the Philippines, Inc.
