Knights send aid to victims of typhoon “Lawin”

A relief operation was conducted on November 5 by the Knights of Columbus Luzon North Jurisdiction headed by Justice Jose Reyes, Jr. in coordination with the KC Philippines Foundation, Inc. and Knights of Columbus Fraternal Association of the Philippines, Inc. (KCFAPI). The assistance is in response to the victims of Typhoon Lawin in some areas of Luzon. Brother Knights who resides in Isabela, Cagayan, Kalinga and Apayao were among the beneficiaries of the 550 bags of relief goods. While Luzon South Jurisdiction led by Ramoncito A. Ocampo extends his personal assistance reaching about 50 bags of relief goods.

Super Typhoon Lawin hit the provinces on October 19. Reports cited that Lawin with the international name of Haima is one of the most powerful typhoons that landed in the country causing damages of houses and agricultural crops with corresponding land area of rice and corn.

An initial assessment from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) estimated that about 60,000 families were affected by super typhoon Lawin.
