KC Foundation’s New Board Passers
KC Philippines Foundation scholars Mel Cleohope I. Carballo, CPA and Engineer Sheila Mae G. Unabia are the newest addition to the KC Foundation’s roster of scholar-graduates who passed their Licensure Examinations.
Mr. Carballo, who took the CPA Licensure Examination last October, 2016, is the son of Bro. Noel and Sis. Merly Carballo of Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council 11055 Pasonanca, Zamboanga City. Aside from being an honor student during his high school years, Mel, as he is fondly called, actively participated in various Debating competitions and loves Mathematics and English subjects. He graduated Cum Laude last March 2016 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University. Mr. Carballo was a beneficiary of KC Philippines Foundation, Inc. under the Supreme Council Scholarship Program from the year 2011 to 2015. Mel believes that in his own simple ways he could help our country rise from poverty.
On the other hand, Engr. Unabia, is the youngest daughter of Bro. Dionidito and Sis. Marie Unabia from Knights of Columbus Council 6309 Minglanilla, Cebu. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of San Jose – Recoletos in Cebu City where she earned her degree in Civil Engineering last March 2016. Ms. Unabia was a scholar of KC Philippines Foundation, Inc. from year 2011 to 2016 and a consistent Dean’s Lister. Sheila’s hard work and dedication to her studies was recognized by the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, Inc. (PICE) as she was chosen as the 4th Most Outstanding Civil Engineering Student of the Philippines during their 18th National Civil Engineering Students’ Conference held in Bacolod City last December 2015. Her dream of becoming an engineer has finally come true now Engr. Unabia can work on her goal of helping those in need especially the homeless people. She hopes to become one of the greatest Engineers in the Philippines for her family and the Knights of Columbus to be proud of.
Certainly, the KC Philippines Foundation, Inc. is very proud of these two scholars and all its 451 scholar-graduates. Thank God for a very fruitful 2016 and looking forward for a brighter 2017. God bless us all!(Denise Solina-Ortiguerra)
