KCFAPI Wholly-Owned Companies introduces its New Board of Directors

BRO. JOVEN B. JOAQUINBRO. JOVEN B. JOAQUINPrior to his election as a Board of Director for Kompass Credit and Financing Corporation last May 2018, Bro. Joven already held various positions in KCFAPI and its subsidiaries since 1986. He was a former Treasurer of Mace Insurance Agency, Inc., Chairman of Compass Development Corporation and Treasurer of Anchor Bank and Corporate Secretary of KCFAPI.

Bro. Joven earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at the University of the East, Manila in 1950 and passed the board examinations as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) on the same year. He began his career as a Senior Auditor in C. Miller, Cruz and Associates. He was also an Accounting and Budget Officer in the Office of the Officer-in-charge of Construction in the United States Naval Base in Zubic, Zambales. This paved way to his career in the construction industry and was appointed as Comptroller and Office Manager of the Philippines Industrial Engineering Company (PIECO) and Comptroller for Far East Operations of Adrian Wilson Associates (AWA).

His professional experience include sitting as one of the board members of The Corinthian Plaza Condominium Corporation, Chairman of the Obando Water District, President of Interiors 5 Inc., ADR Managers Inc., The Athanaeum Condominium Corporation and AWIA Condominium Corporation. He also worked as Corporate Secretary, General Manager and Chairman of the Rural Bank of San Pascual Baylon Inc. and was a board member of the Council of Engineering Consultants of the Philippines (CECOPHIL). At present, he is a board member of United Caddtech Philippines, Inc. (UNICADD) and Treasurer of the Philippines Institute of Contraction Arbitrators and Mediators, Inc. (PICAM).

He joined the Order of the Knights of Columbus in 1975 and has been a very active member for about forty years. Since 2014 he has been the Special Assistant to the Luzon North State Deputy. Prior to his current position in the order, he is a past Grand Knight in his Council, Our Lady of Salambao Council 4105, Faithful Navigator of Dr. Pio Valenzuela Assembly of Valenzuela City, District Deputy in CAMANAVA cities of the Diocese of Caloocan and in the Southern Luzon towns of the Diocese of Malolos. He also served as State Program Director, State Chairman and Trainer of the Spiritual Formation Program, State Treasurer and State Secretary.

He is a proud Bulaceño having been born in Obando, Bulacan and married to the late Jesusa Gustilo. He has five children: Domingo, Joven Jr, Maria Teresa, Joseph Victor and Cornelius Vincent.


JAMES LAYAOENJAMES LAYAOENBRO. JAMES LAYAOEN has been recently elected as a Board Member of Kompass Credit and Financing Corporation and is also their Treasurer. Bro. James joined the order of the Knights of Columbus in 2008 and held the following positions; Deputy Grand Knight, Grand Knight and District Deputy. In his term as Grand Knight, he was a consistent Star Council Awardee from Columbian Years 2010 to 2011, 2011 to 2012 and 2012 to 2013. As District Deputy, he was also a consistent Star Council Awardee from Columbian Years 2013 to 2014, 2014 to 2015 and 2015 to 2016 and a Century Awardee for Columbian Year 2015 to 2016. He was awarded as Knight of the Year for Columbian Year 2015 to 2016. He is currently the Luzon North State Council Director and State Auditor.

Apart from his active membership in the order, he is also a member of the Catholic Lay Preachers of the Philippines (CALAPP), Affiliation Lecturer of the Soldiers of Christ Movement Incorporated under Military Ordinariate, Bible Lecturer and Lay Defender of Catholic Faith and Doctrine.

Bro. James graduated from the University of Manila with a degree in Business Administration Major in Accounting. He is a retired Revenue Officer at the Bureau of Internal Revenue. He is married to Sis. Marivic M. Layaoen and has 3 children – Marvin Joy, Christian Carlo and Joanne Dae. (JPPalafox)
