With the theme “Rev Up! Make a Mark!”- majestic canopies of coconut trees and manicured lawns that extended to an exclusive beach club, served as the befitting backdrop of the 2019 Knights of Columbus Fraternal Association of the Philippines Inc., (KCFAPI) Planning Conference, held at the renowned Movenpick Hotel in Mactan Island, Cebu City, last November 9 to 10, 2018.

The two-day affair jump started with the welcoming words of KCFAPI President Ramoncito A. Ocampo who emphasized the importance of starting up early in foreseeing the possible challenges that 2019 will bring in. He likewise encouraged all the officers and managers of the Association and its wholly-owned and majority-owned companies and foundations, to maximize the opportunity offered by such occasion, away from the hustles of the workplace, to reflect and be able see how the participants can improve on the plans and programs which will be presented throughout the Conference. In the same breath, Executive Vice President Ma. Theresa G. Curia expressed her positive outlook and projection for the coming year and rallied all conference participants to go beyond the boundaries of their achieved plans and programs for the year 2018, which is policy direction of next year’s theme of “revi’n” up and “making a mark”. Also present to grace the conference were Keys Realty and Development Corp. President, Arsenio Isidro G. Yap and Mace Insurance Agency President, German F. Martinez, Jr.

The conference highlights began with the presentation of KCFAPI’s Financial Milestones led by Vice-President for Financial Reporting and Controls, Rowena M. Diapolit. Thereafter, Fraternal Benefits Group (FBG) led by Vice-President Gari M. Sebastian, presented the strategies that will be implemented to beef up sales performance efforts in furtherance of the Association’s primordial aim of offering protection to fraternal brothers and their families.

On the other hand, Vice-President for Actuarial and Business Development (ABD), Angelito A. Bala emphasized the necessity securing regulatory approval of all products and riders endorsed by the KCFAPI’s Product Development Committee and the viability of all products offered by the Association. Noteworthy is ADB’s aim of establishing a KCFAPI pre-need life company by the end of 2019. Vice-President for Treasury, BRO and HRCC, Magdalene G. Flores presented the programs aimed at ensuring the persistence of the Association’s business renewals and an increase of up to 96% of Persistency Ratio for the year 2019.

The second day marked the presentation of the plans and programs from the other equally important departments of the Association led by Vice-President for MIS, Underwriting and Administration, Ronulfo Antero G. Infante. This was followed by the presentation from the Financial Management and Accounting Services, Financial Reporting and Controls and the Legal Services Department.

Not to be left out in leaving a mark for the year ahead, plans for Keys Realty and Development Corporation, Mace Insurance Agency, Kompass Credit and Financing Corporation, Corporate Audit Department, KC Philippines Foundation Inc., and Knights of Columbus Father George J. Willman Foundation Inc. were likewise presented by their respective officers and managers. Verily, the projects presented during the conference were meticulously scrutinized and evaluated to ensure that all the corporate objectives which it seeks to achieve will be met, and at best exceeded.

The extended weekend for all the Conference participants was accentuated with some of the best that Cebu can offer-from the delicious food up to the well-appointed accommodation of the hotel. It was a worthwhile event capped off with a Sunday mass celebrated at the Sto. Nino de Cebu-Mactan Parish before everyone’s flight back to Manila. Truly, 2019 had already started for KCFAPI and its wholly-owned and majority-owned companies and foundations even before the year had even begun. The Association is indeed all set to “rev up!” and “make a mark!”. (LFormilleza)
